Sustainability at Banana Moon Catterick

Sustainability at Banana Moon Catterick
As part of this commitment, we have formed a Sustainability Committee involving some of our Full Moons children. We give our children a voice and help them to understand that their actions can make a difference. Together, we have been discussing important topics such as reducing energy use, caring for our environment, and making thoughtful choices within the nursery.
Following these discussions, we have already introduced light monitors and new recycling bins in every room, encouraging children to take responsibility for turning off lights and sorting waste correctly. These practical steps help children develop early environmental awareness while supporting key EYFS areas, including Understanding the World and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
Lisa is also exploring opportunities to visit a local school to learn about their sustainability initiatives, allowing us to share ideas and strengthen our approach. We have many exciting plans ahead, including nature-based activities, recycling projects, and further opportunities for children to learn about caring for the world around them.
